"I believe that filmmaking - as, probably, is everything - is a game you should play with all your cards, and all your dice, and whatever else you've got. So, each time I make a movie, I give it everything I have. I think everyone should, and I think everyone should do everything they do that way."
Francis Ford Coppola
I spent a lot of my teenage years writing. I wrote poetry, prose, draft after draft of scripts but it never felt like enough storytelling. I needed to find a way to create a character I could invision and cast someone who could make my story come alive. There's something definite I have learned about the stories we write; they're always true. There's always an embedded message in them, and even if the intention wasn't there, a layer of our soul gets stripped naked onto the paper we write our stories on. Having the opportunity to build sets, frame shots, dress an actor in certain clothes, set the scene, and look through the eye of a camera is so empowering. Filmmaking is more than an art. It's a method of expression, a way to tell the world something without giving a speech. Like anything else, it's an outlet. So, if you're lucky enough to be able to get ahold of a camera (any camera), then use it to tell a story. Inspire people, throw your ideas into the world!
